Rafael Santamaria Sanchez is Full Professor of Mathematics at the University of León, Spain, where he is affiliated with the Department of Mathematics within the School of Industrial, Computer and Aerospace Engineering. He is an active member of the GIEF research group (Financial Economy). Education PhD in Mathematics, University of Cantabria (2002) Thesis: Differential invariants of almost-biparacomplex structures and the equivalence problem Supervisors: Dr. Fernando Etayo Gordejuela, Dr. Jaime Muñoz Masqué Research Interests Professor Santamaria Sanchez’s work lies at the intersection of pure and applied mathematics, with a strong emphasis on differential geometry and its applications. His early research focused on the structure and classification of almost-biparacomplex manifolds, studying differential invariants that solve equivalence problems in this setting. More recently he has expanded his investigations toward mathematical finance, participating in the GIEF (Financial Economy) group, where geometric and analytical techniques are applied to financial modeling and risk assessment. Laboratory & Teams He collaborates within the GIEF research group at the University of León, a multidisciplinary team that blends mathematical theory with practical problems in finance and economics.
