Lecturer
Dr. Maria Alanelli is an Associate Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire Cyprus (UCLan Cyprus) since 2014, concurrently serving as a Special Scientist at Cyprus University of Technology (2011–present) and the University of Cyprus (2015–2019). She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Crete (2007), an M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics (2002), and a B.Sc. in Mathematics (1999). Her research focuses on Numerical Analysis , Numerical Linear Algebra , and algorithm design using MATLAB and R. She has taught modules such as Numerical Analysis, Computational Mathematics, Linear Algebra, and Statistics, emphasizing both theoretical and applied aspects of mathematics for engineering and science students. Her scholarly work includes publications in prestigious journals like Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics and SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications , focusing on iterative methods for solving linear systems and H-matrix criteria. She has presented at international conferences, including the IMACS Conference on Iterative Methods in Scientific Computing and the NumAn Conference series. Dr. Alanelli led the research grant “Numerical Solution of Linear Systems with Iterative Methods” (Herakleitos Program, 2002–2006) as Principal Investigator. Her contributions bridge computational theory and practical applications in mathematical modeling.
