Professor Meg Jardine is a Professor and Director of the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre (CTC) at the University of Sydney's Faculty of Medicine and Health, and a Senior Staff Specialist at Concord Repatriation General Hospital. Her work focuses on reducing progression of non-communicable diseases (kidney disease, diabetes, cardiovascular disease) through innovative clinical trials and epidemiological studies. She leads the CTC’s Kidney Health Research team and has pioneered adaptive trial designs, including cluster randomization and algorithm-based monitoring. Professor Jardine’s research emphasizes integration of clinical care and research to advance learning health systems. She has led global trials in kidney disease and diabetes, collaborating with healthcare providers, patients, and policymakers. Her roles include Executive Committee member of KDIGO, Board Member of the Kidney Health Initiative, and advisory roles in the ANZSN Research Committee. Her research interests span kidney health, diabetes complications, cardiovascular outcomes, and clinical trial methodologies. Recent work highlights SGLT2 inhibitors’ effects on kidney and heart outcomes, iron metabolism in CKD, and frailty’s impact on drug efficacy. Over 150+ peer-reviewed articles reflect her focus on translational research bridging basic science and clinical practice.
