Serhiy Mykolayovych Popov is a Professor at the Department of Physical Materials Science within the Engineering-Physical Faculty at Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University. With over 140 scientific works including 4 patents, 11 certificates, 3 monographs, and 4 educational manuals, he specializes in wear-resistant welded alloy coatings, tribosystem optimization, and social philosophy. Doctor of Philosophy (Social Philosophy, 2012, National Pedagogical University named after M.P. Dragomanov) Candidate of Sciences (Materials Science, 1991, Kharkiv Automobile and Road Institute) Mechanical Engineer (Zaporizhzhia Machine-Building Institute named after V.Ya. Chubar, 1985) His research focuses on multifactor tribosystems , combining systems approach with mathematical optimization of chemical, structural, and mechanical properties of materials. Recent works include abrasive wear analysis of high-chromium cast irons, electroslag process efficiency improvements, and mathematical modeling of welded deposit layers. Scientific recognitions include the USSR Inventor Medal and 'Distinguished Educator of Ukraine' honor. He supervises student research and has received multiple certificates from Ukrainian Ministry of Education for his mentoring excellence.
