Mariona Moncunill is a Professor of Design and Cultural Administration at EINA (Escola Superior d'Art i Disseny de Barcelona), part of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. She also teaches or has taught at UOC (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya), IDEP and Bau. Her academic background includes a Bachelor's in Fine Arts (UB), Master's in Cultural Administration (UB), and PhD in Information and Knowledge Society at the UOC. She has conducted research stays at the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague, the Metropolitan Technological Institute in Medellín, and the Sociology Institute for Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg. Her research interests focus on contemporary art practices, museum studies, cultural administration, and the relationship between art and society. Moncunill explores how artistic interventions can challenge institutional frameworks and transform everyday spaces. Her work examines the ideological dimensions of spatial representations, the relationship between leisure and work, and the political implications of scientific conventions. She investigates how scale, temporality, and representation intersect in cultural production and urban environments. Moncunill's publications reveal a consistent focus on museum practices, spatial politics, and artistic interventions. Her work often examines the relationship between institutional frameworks and creative practices, with particular attention to how everyday experiences become sites of cultural production. She frequently employs interdisciplinary approaches that bridge visual arts, cultural theory, and social practice. She currently serves as curator of Nauestruch for Estruch, Factory of Live Arts (Sabadell). Her artistic projects often involve collaborative processes and institutional engagement, with numerous exhibitions at significant venues including MUSAC (León), the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome, MAC (Mataró), and the Joan Miró Foundation. She has conducted workshops internationally, including at the MACBA, CCCB, and the Instituto Tecnológico Metropolitano in Medellín.
