About
Prof. Zulkarnain serves as a Professor in the Faculty of Agriculture at The University of Jambi, Indonesia, where he holds the position of Counterpart Affairs for research project B03 focusing on plant genetic diversity in tropical lowland rainforest transformation systems. Based at Kampus Pinang Masak - Mendalo Indah in Jambi, he leads critical ecological research at the intersection of agriculture and conservation biology.
His research centers on the genetic resilience of plant species within rapidly transforming tropical ecosystems, with particular emphasis on:
- Conservation of native plant genetic resources under land-use pressure
- Ecological impacts of deforestation on biodiversity hotspots
- Sustainable agricultural transition models for rainforest regions
- Genetic adaptation mechanisms in tropical flora
As the institutional lead for project B03, Prof. Zulkarnain coordinates international research efforts examining how agricultural expansion affects genetic diversity in Southeast Asia's vulnerable rainforest corridors, contributing to global conservation strategies through field-based genomic studies.
