Zoe Thomas

Dr. Zoe Thomas serves as Associate Head of the Department of Health and Social Sciences (Psychology) at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol). She is a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and a HCPC-registered Counselling Psychologist. Her roles include academic leadership, teaching, and research supervision in counselling psychology programs.

Teaching & Research: Zoe specializes in principles of counselling psychology, professional ethics, inclusive practice, complex mental health, and leadership. Her research interests focus on therapeutic relating, complex mental health presentations, and social justice. She contributes to the Promoting Psychological Health (PPH) theme within UWE’s Psychological Sciences Research Group (PSRG).

Professional Contributions: Zoe supervises doctoral students in counselling psychology, with notable completions, and serves as an experienced internal/external viva examiner. She previously led UWE’s Doctorate in Counselling Psychology program as Programme Director.
