Zobia Jawed

Dr. Zobia Jawed is a Part-Time Lecturer at McMaster University's School of Engineering Technology and a Senior Research Fellow in the Global Peace and Social Justice Program. She holds a Ph.D. from McMaster University, an M.Eng. from the University of Toronto, and an M.B.A. from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Her research focuses on environmental sustainability systems, with emphasis on:

• Climate change impacts on vulnerable communities
• Water/wastewater treatment innovation
• Renewable energy integration
• Circular economy solutions
• SARS-CoV-2 tracking via wastewater systems

She leads interdisciplinary projects across engineering and social justice domains.

Her publications demonstrate strong focus on environmental crisis response, with recent work analyzing lake ecosystem degradation, sediment remediation best practices, and pandemic wastewater surveillance infrastructure.
