Zoé Hamstead is Associate Professor of City & Regional Planning at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research investigates urban environmental planning, climate adaptation, and environmental justice using mixed-methods approaches combining geospatial analysis, participatory action research, and ethnographic methods.
Research focuses on developing governance frameworks for urban heat management, examining equity dimensions of climate vulnerability, and designing community-centered resilience strategies. Recent work explores how aesthetic and narrative approaches can address thermal insecurity as a critical environmental health threat.
