Zimran Samuel MBE is a Visiting Professor in Practice at the London School of Economics (LSE), assisting with the BA Anthropology & Law degree program. He is affiliated with the Department of Anthropology and continues the legacy of the late Professor Simon Roberts in developing this interdisciplinary program. A practising barrister at Doughty Street Chambers, he also serves on the Executive Committee of the Bar Human Rights Committee (BHRC), advocating for human rights globally.
His expertise spans Children law, mental capacity law, and public international law, with a focus on integrating anthropological perspectives into legal frameworks. Notably, he has presented on topics such as female circumcision within the Dawoodi Bohra Community (LSE Moot Court, 2020) and participated in high-profile dialogues, including a discussion with Supreme Court Justice Lady Black (LSE, 2019).
Zimran has received multiple accolades, including Family Law Barrister of the Year (2014) and Junior Pro Bono Barrister of the Year (2020). Before his legal career, he worked at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, contributing to international legal affairs.
