Dr. Qian Zhang is an Assistant Professor at the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa. She holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Relations and Human Resources from the University of Toronto, alongside an M.Sc. and B.A. (Hon.) in Economics and Human Resources from the same institution. Her research focuses on strategic human resource management (HRM) systems, HR analytics, HR digitalization, and sustainable HRM practices. Dr. Zhang explores how organizations integrate relational perspectives into HR systems and leverage data-driven approaches to enhance performance and employee well-being.
Her research interests include leadership dynamics, healthcare management, and the sustainability implications of digital transformation in HR. She has published in journals like Human Resource Management, International Journal of Human Resource Management, and Asia Pacific Journal of Management. Recent work examines AI-driven personnel selection systems and the congruence between leadership styles and employee thriving.
Dr. Zhang has secured research funding totaling $32,800, including a University of Ottawa SEED grant for AI-driven HR analytics research. Her funded projects emphasize data-centric, people-focused HR strategies. She teaches courses on strategic HRM, recruitment, training, and industrial relations.
