Zeinab Abul-Magd is Professor of Middle Eastern History at Oberlin College. She holds a BS from Cairo University and MA/PhD from Georgetown University. Her research focuses on socioeconomic history, military-business relations, Islamic law, and revolutionary movements in the Middle East.
Publications include the award-winning Imagined Empires: A History of Revolt in Egypt (2013), Militarizing the Nation: The Army, Business, and Revolution in Egypt (2017), and co-edited Businessmen in Arms: How the Military and Other Armed Groups Profit in the MENA Region (2016).
