Zbigniew Hajn

Zbigniew Hajn is a Professor and Head of the Department of European, International and Collective Labour Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Lodz. He has been affiliated with the University of Lodz since 1978 and currently holds the position of full professor. His leadership as department head demonstrates his significant standing within the academic community and his commitment to advancing labor law scholarship.

Professor Hajn's research focuses on Labor Law, with specialized expertise in European Labor Law, International Labor Law, and Collective Labor Law. His scholarly work addresses fundamental issues in employer-employee relationships, legal frameworks governing labor organizations, and comparative analyses of labor legislation across jurisdictions. His research has significantly contributed to understanding the evolving nature of labor rights in both national and international contexts, particularly in the Polish legal system.

Throughout his distinguished career, Professor Hajn has served in numerous prestigious roles including as a Supreme Court judge (2003-2016). He was a member of the Labor Law Codification Commission (2002-2006) and the Legislative Council (2006). Academically, he has made substantial contributions to legal scholarship, having served as deputy editor-in-chief of "Studia Prawno-Europejskie" (European Legal Studies) from 1996-2009. He currently serves on the scientific councils of "European Judicial Review" and "Monitor Prawa Pracy" (Labor Law Monitor), as well as the editorial committee of "Państwo i Prawo" (State and Law).

With a scholarly output exceeding 150 publications, Professor Hajn has authored significant works on the concept of employer, legal status of employer organizations, collective labor law systems, and comprehensive analyses of Polish labor law in English. His extensive publication record demonstrates his commitment to advancing knowledge in labor law and making Polish legal scholarship accessible to international audiences.
