Zareen Bharucha is Senior Research Fellow at Anglia Ruskin University's Global Sustainability Institute, leading the Global Risk and Resilience research theme. An interdisciplinary environmental social scientist, she specializes in environmental change in rural India, particularly water scarcity and dryland agriculture.
Her research examines the social construction of water scarcity, sustainable intensification of agriculture, and links between sustainability and wellbeing. Current projects include a NERC-IUKWC study on stakeholder engagement in climate services in India, and community resilience research in the Fens region.
Publications analyze agricultural systems redesign, integrated pest management, and the political ecology of resource governance. Her work combines ethnographic methods with policy analysis.
