Vita-Salute San Raffaele UniversityAbout
Samuel Zambrano is an Associate Professor of Applied Physics at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and a researcher at IRCCS San Raffaele Scientific Institute (2020–present). His career spans nonlinear dynamics, chaos theory, and quantitative biology, with a focus on NF-κB and p53 transcription factor dynamics in inflammation and cancer. He transitioned from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Spain), where he held roles from PhD student to tenured Assistant Professor (2003–2017).
- PhD in Physics (2007), Universidad Rey Juan Carlos
- MAS in Computer Science and Mathematical Modeling (2006), URJC
- BSc in Theoretical Physics (2003), Universidad Complutense
His research bridges physics and biology, using live-cell imaging to study transcriptional dynamics in single cells. Current projects include chromatin organization in oncogene-induced senescence and spatiotemporal inflammation modeling.
Recent work focuses on NF-κB dynamics in cancer-stromal interactions, inflammation modeling, and mathematical frameworks for transcriptional heterogeneity. He has secured grants from Italy’s Ministry of Health, World Wide Cancer Research, and Marie Curie programs.
- Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship (2012–2014)
- Member, Italian Society of Chaos and Complexity
- Member, Italian Society of Molecular Biology and Biophysics
He supervises master’s and PhD students, coordinates courses in medical physics and biomedical imaging, and has delivered over 20 invited lectures internationally.
