Zaire Dinzey-Flores

Zaire Dinzey-Flores is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Rutgers University. Her work examines how urban spaces shape community life and inequality through interdisciplinary frameworks in sociology, urban planning, and public policy, often comparing Caribbean and U.S. contexts.

Her research focuses on housing design, racial and class segregation, and the role of the built environment in perpetuating inequality. She explores topics such as real estate practices in Brooklyn, transatlantic housing policy, and mobile data analysis of racial segregation.

Her publications span urban sociology, criminology, and postcolonial studies, highlighting intersections of race, housing, and policy. Recent work includes a 2023 study on Latina/o/x criminologies and a 2021 photographic exploration of American inequality.
