Dr. Zahra Murad is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Portsmouth, affiliated with the Faculty of Business and Law and School of Accounting, Economics and Finance. She joined in 2017 and co-founded the Behavioural Analytics Research Lab (BARELab) with Wolfgang Luhan.

Her research focuses on behavioural and experimental economics, exploring how biases affect economic decisions. Key areas include overconfidence, motivated beliefs, gender/ethnic discrimination, team dynamics, and NHS leadership. She employs lab, online, and field experiments to study decision-making in economics, management, and social psychology contexts.
Recent publications span health economics, anti-piracy psychology, team competition, leadership impacts, and gender in multitasking. Her work intersects with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to quality education and reduced inequalities.

She supervises PhD students and teaches Mathematics for Economics, Psychology and Altruism, and Behavioural Economics dissertations. Current projects include Gender Differences in Willingness to Lead and a NWO XS Grant collaboration on Personality and Leadership.
