Zack W. Almquist

Zack W. Almquist is an **Associate Professor of Sociology** and **Adjunct Associate Professor of Statistics** at the **University of Washington**, alongside serving as a **Senior Data Science Fellow at the eScience Institute**. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, Irvine (2013), an M.A. in Demography (2008), an M.S. in Statistics from Northwestern University (2007), and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Oregon (2005). Prior to UW, he was an Assistant Professor of Sociology and Statistics at the University of Minnesota (2013–2018) and a Research Scientist at Facebook (2018–2020).

His research focuses on **developing computational and statistical methodologies** to address societal challenges, particularly in **homelessness, demography, public health, and environmental governance**. Notable projects include improving homelessness enumeration through network-driven sampling and modeling disease transmission dynamics during pandemics.
