Zachary Barkley

Zachary Barkley is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science at The Pennsylvania State University. He earned his B.S. in Meteorology with honors in 2014 and an M.S. in Meteorology in 2016, both from Penn State. His work focuses on atmospheric chemistry, pollution, and climate science, with a specialization in methane emissions from natural gas infrastructure.

Utilizing data collection and interpretation, Barkley contributes to research on climate impacts of industrial activities. He is currently part of NASA’s ACT America project, applying methane emission estimation techniques across the U.S.
