Dr Zach Bond is a Senior Lecturer, Fellow, and Undergraduate Tutor at Magdalene College, University of Cambridge, where he serves as Director of Studies in Chemical Engineering. He earned his MEng MA in Chemical Engineering at Magdalene College and later completed a PhD in the Combustion Group within the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at Trinity Hall, Cambridge.
His research focuses on Bio-Energy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS), particularly using Chemical Looping technology and fluidized beds to convert solid biomass into energy or synthesis gas with zero or net negative CO2 emissions. He also investigates fluid dynamics and heat transfer in gas-emitting particles.
Dr Bond is actively involved in the development and delivery of the new Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology tripos. He is affiliated with the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology and holds professional memberships as an Associate Member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (AMIChemE) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).
