About
Yuri Santos Rego is a Lecturer at the University of Lincoln, affiliated with the Charlotte Scott Research Centre for Algebra. Previously, he was a research assistant at Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, associated with Prof. Petra Schwer’s Geometry Group and the MathCoRe research training group. He holds a PhD from Universität Bielefeld (2019) under Kai-Uwe Bux, a Master’s from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2014), and a Bachelor’s from Universidade de Brasília (2011). His research focuses on geometric group theory, exploring properties of spaces and their symmetries, with particular interests in Coxeter groups, Thompson’s groups, cohomological finiteness, and algorithmic questions.
- Education:
- PhD in Mathematics (2019), Universität Bielefeld
- Master’s in Mathematics (2014), Universidade Estadual de Campinas
- Bachelor’s in Mathematics (2011), Universidade de Brasília
His research interests span group theory, topology, and formal methods. Notable contributions include studies on Coxeter groups, arithmetic groups, and Reidemeister numbers. He has organized major conferences like the Young Geometric Group Theory XI (2023) and the GoTh Workshop (2023). His work bridges algebraic structures, geometric interpretations, and computational approaches, with applications to knot theory and spatial graphs. He also explores formal methods in mathematics, including proof assistants and cryptographic protocol verification.
