Yun Ji is a Professor and Graduate Program Director in Chemical Engineering at the University of North Dakota. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maine, M.S. from Asian Institute of Technology, and B.Eng from Northwest University of Light Industry.
Her research focuses on biomass conversion technologies including pretreatment, enzymatic hydrolysis, forestry biorefining, renewable chemicals and fuels, and green composites. Additional areas include oil/gas pipeline modeling, metal-ion catalysts for biomass processing, paper recycling, and environmental engineering applications.
Professional experience includes postdoctoral research at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), project engineering at International Paper, and research engineering at Kymi Paper Oy. In 2018, she served as a Fulbright Scholar and Visiting Professor at VTT Technical Research Center in Finland.
