About
Yujun Shi is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Science. His research focuses on chemical vapor deposition (CVD) processes, semiconductor nanostructures, and nanoparticle synthesis using laser and thermal methods. He earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Soochow University and his Ph.D. from the University of Western Ontario.
Key research interests include understanding CVD mechanisms via laser spectroscopy, nanowire growth using catalytic nanoparticles, and dewetting processes for nanoparticle formation. His work spans molecular-level studies of radicals in hot-wire CVD and top-down approaches for metal nanoparticle production.
Shi has received awards, including the NSERC University Faculty Award (2004) and CNC-IUPAC Travel Award (2008). He teaches courses such as CHEM 471 (Kinetics and Spectroscopy) and CHEM 371 (Thermodynamics Chemistry). His research articles emphasize nanomaterials, thin films, and catalytic processes.
