Dr. Yuen Fong Ling is a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University's Department of Art and Design, part of the College of Business, Technology and Engineering. She holds an MFA from Glasgow School of Art (2005–2007) and a practice-based PhD from the University of Lincoln (2007–present), titled A Body of Relations: Reconfiguring the Life Class. Her work interrogates authorship, institutional strategies, and identity through socially engaged art practices, performance, and participatory methods.
Her research explores pedagogical approaches to the life class environment, blending her dual roles as artist, curator, and educator. Key projects include The Tactical Life Model, Arrivals and Departures, and Life Class: Rufford Old Hall. She has supervised doctoral theses on organizational encounters and post-digital curatorial archives.
Prior roles include Co-Director of Castlefield Gallery (1999–2005), gallery educator at Cornerhouse, and curator at the Chinese Art Centre. Her art employs drawing, photography, video, and sculpture to engage both professional and public audiences in redefining artistic practices.
