Dr. Yue Guan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences at Emory University. She is also the Director of the Emory Precision Public Health Research Program. Dr. Guan holds a PhD and MS in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, along with a Bachelor of Medicine and dual BA from Peking University. Her research focuses on eliminating health inequities through genomic-informed public health programs, with expertise in cancer prevention, community-based research, health communication, and implementation science.
Her leadership roles include serving on the American Public Health Association (APHA) Genomic Forum Leadership Team, the Board of Directors for the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC), and as Chair of Equity Action Group for the NCI Consortium for Cancer Implementation Science (CCIS). Dr. Guan’s work emphasizes translating evidence-based genomic applications into actionable public health strategies, particularly for underserved populations such as racial/ethnic minorities and rural communities.
Research interests include genetic risk communication, community engagement in genomic services, and scaling precision public health interventions. Her work often intersects with ethics, policy, and behavioral science to address disparities in healthcare access and outcomes.
Her publications reflect a focus on genomic applications in cancer screening, health equity, and behavioral interventions. She teaches courses such as Public Health Genomics (HGC 805) and Program Planning in Health Promotion (BSHES 526), contributing to the next generation of public health professionals.
