About
Yu Zhao is a postdoctoral researcher at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), working in the group of Prof. E. W. Meijer since February 2025. Prior to this, he served as an assistant researcher at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (2022–2025) and completed a year of joint PhD training at the University of Waterloo (2020). His academic journey began with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics (2016) and a PhD in Biomedical Magnesium Alloys (2021) from Zhengzhou University, China.
Yu Zhao's research focuses on chiral supramolecular assembly mechanisms, particularly in C2-symmetric systems, and their interactions with functional proteins. He integrates computational simulations and machine learning to predict assembled structures of supramolecular polymers under varied environmental conditions. His work also spans biomedical materials (e.g., magnesium alloys) and studies of nucleic acid aptamers with graphene oxide, gold, and plastics.
