About
Yu Wang is a Research Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). He is affiliated with the Power & Flow group under Prof. Bart Somers and Noud Maes. His research focuses on optical/laser diagnostics in engine combustion and renewable alternative fuels, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to clean energy.
Academically, Wang holds a bachelor’s (2016) and master’s (2019) degree from Tianjin University’s School of Mechanical Engineering, where his thesis explored diesel spray flames under oxygen-enriched conditions. Since 2020, he has been a doctoral candidate at TU/e.
His work spans biofuel applications (e.g., fast pyrolysis bio-oil), ignition delay modeling, and combustion chamber dynamics. Key projects include the SmartCHP initiative (2019–2023) for biofuel-based combined heat and power systems and the Argon Power Cycle (2020–2025) focusing on closed-loop energy systems.
Wang has been recognized with the Combura 2022 Second Place Poster Prize for his research on spray combustion. He leads datasets on biofuel ignition and collaborates internationally on topics like bio-oil utilization and emission mitigation. His lab work emphasizes sustainable energy solutions and advanced diagnostics in combustion systems.
