Yu Peng

Professor Yu Peng is affiliated with the School of Art and Media at Tongji University, where he has taught since 2006. His research spans journalism, communication, comprehensive media painting creation, and Chinese traditional painting theory and practice.

Yu Peng’s research focuses on integrating traditional Chinese painting techniques with modern multimedia practices, alongside cross-cultural studies of Japanese painting evolution. His work emphasizes cultural exchange and innovation in visual storytelling.

His academic output includes foundational contributions to Japanese painting historiography, such as the 2005 paper analyzing stylistic modernization through historical communication networks.

Yu Peng has led interdisciplinary projects like “Marine Civilization Communication” at Tongji University and created large-scale rock-color murals for institutional and public spaces, including the 2019 “Year of Abundance” at Shanghai’s Zhu Qizhan Art Gallery.
