About
Yousuke Utsumi is a Project Scientist affiliated with the Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology (KIPAC) at Stanford University. He works on integration and testing for the LSST camera, a next-generation astronomical instrument, and has contributed to wide-field imaging projects like the Subaru telescope's Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC). His research spans cosmology, gravitational wave transients, and instrumentation development.
- PhD in Science from the Graduate University for Advanced Studies, Japan
- Developed control software and led commissioning for HSC
- Collaborated with China on Tibet-based HinOTORI observatory's optical design
His current scientific interests include:
- Weak lensing techniques for cosmological studies
- Exploration of distant galaxies
- Multi-messenger astronomy (gravitational waves, neutrinos)
- Transient phenomena detection
Previously investigated meteor storms via radar and developed forward-scattering techniques.
