Yousuke Utsumi

Yousuke Utsumi is a Project Scientist affiliated with the Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology (KIPAC) at Stanford University. He works on integration and testing for the LSST camera, a next-generation astronomical instrument, and has contributed to wide-field imaging projects like the Subaru telescope's Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC). His research spans cosmology, gravitational wave transients, and instrumentation development.

• PhD in Science from the Graduate University for Advanced Studies, Japan
• Developed control software and led commissioning for HSC
• Collaborated with China on Tibet-based HinOTORI observatory's optical design

His current scientific interests include:

• Weak lensing techniques for cosmological studies
• Exploration of distant galaxies
• Multi-messenger astronomy (gravitational waves, neutrinos)
• Transient phenomena detection

Previously investigated meteor storms via radar and developed forward-scattering techniques.
