About
Dr. Young Eun Park is a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford's Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Science, where she works in the Bone Oncology group led by Professor Claire Edwards. Holding a PhD from the University of Auckland (New Zealand), her research bridges bone biology and cancer pathology.
Her research explores the cellular and molecular mechanisms driving multiple myeloma progression within the bone marrow microenvironment. Key focus areas include
- Interactions between fat cells and myeloma cells
- Role of bone marrow adiposity in cancer dormancy and relapse
- Impact of obesity on hematologic malignancies
- Development of dietary intervention strategies for myeloma
Scientific contributions include publications in
- Bone Regeneration
- Tumor Microenvironment
- Biomedical Materials
- Obesity Research
- Cardiovascular Pathology
Current research at Oxford investigates how bone marrow microenvironmental factors control myeloma cell growth and dormancy, aiming to identify interventions that prolong remission periods and improve therapeutic outcomes.
