Youn Kim is an Associate Professor of Music at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), where she has been since 2007. She holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University and previously taught at Seoul National University. Her research focuses on the history of Western music theory, music cognition, and the intersection of music theory with the science of the mind, particularly in fin-de-siècle Germany. She is currently working on a book titled *Convergence and/or Dialogue: Music Theory and Psychology in Fin-de-Siècle Germany*, supported by a General Research Fund grant from the University Grants Committee of Hong Kong. Her prior work includes the monograph *History of Western Music Theory* (2006), recognized with an award from the Korean National Academy of Sciences. She has published in journals like *Music and Letters* and *Journal of the Musicological Society of Korea*, and her research has been presented at international conferences such as the International Musicological Society and Congress of the Gesellschaft für Musiktheorie. Kim also serves as editor of *Musica Humana*, an East Asia-based musicological journal.
