About
Dr. Yongfeng Zhao is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Physics, and Atmospheric Sciences at Jackson State University, affiliated with the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology. His research focuses on nanomaterials synthesis, surface functionalization, and biomedical applications. Key projects include developing multifunctional small molecules/polymers for material surface modification, green chemistry-based nanomaterials, and nanotheranostics for cancer imaging/therapy.
Research Interests:
- Surface functionalization of materials using covalent immobilization techniques.
- Synthesis of organic/inorganic hybrid nanomaterials with controlled properties via green chemistry.
- Application of nanomaterials in biomedical imaging (e.g., PET, SPECT), diagnostics, and targeted therapy.
Publications span nanomaterial design, cancer imaging, and nanoparticle synthesis. His work emphasizes translational research with clinical relevance, particularly in tumor targeting and theranostic platforms.
Dr. Zhao’s lab is located in the John A. Peoples Science Building (Office 528B, Lab 507). He teaches General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Polymer Chemistry.
