Yohuru Williams

Yohuru Williams is Distinguished University Chair, Professor, and Founding Director of the Racial Justice Initiative at the University of St. Thomas, holding joint appointments in History and Law. An eminent scholar of civil rights and black power movements, he frequently comments on race and social justice issues nationally.

His research examines African American freedom struggles and their contemporary implications. Publications include 'Black Politics/White Power' and 'Rethinking the Black Freedom Movement'. Williams has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, NPR, and PBS documentaries including Ken Burns' 'Jackie Robinson'.
