Yoel Roth

Yoel Roth is a Research Fellow at the Goldman School of Public Policy, University of California Berkeley, and a Nonresident Scholar in the Technology and International Affairs Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He co-directs the Trust and Safety Tooling Hub, focusing on scalable solutions for online governance. Previously, he served as Head of Trust and Safety at Twitter for seven years, leading content moderation, platform security, and policy teams.

He holds a PhD from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, where his research examined technical and policy dynamics of social networking and dating apps during the early App Store era.

Roth's research centers on trust and safety challenges in digital platforms, including:
