Yingpin Zhang is a Professor and Doctorial Tutor at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences since 2014, and a Research Fellow in the Office of China Local Gazetteer Steering Group since 2008. She earned her PhD in 2003 from Nankai University with a dissertation on Southern Zhili Province's Ming-period local gazetteers.
Research Focus: Her work centers on Ming history and Chinese local gazetteers, particularly analyzing structural patterns and stylistic elements in historical cartography. Her current project leverages gazetteer maps from Harvard University's Yenching Library, extending earlier digitalization efforts.
