Yin-Yin Tan

Yin-Yin (Sarah) Tan is a Program Development Specialist in the Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology program at Michigan Technological University and an Affiliated Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and Human Factors. She holds a PhD in Applied Cognitive Science and Human Factors from MTU, an MBA from MTU, an MA in Political Sciences from National Chung-Cheng University (Taiwan), and a BA in Public Administration from National Chiayi Open University (Taiwan).

Her research focuses on evaluating how individual differences impact behaviors across cultural, social, and behavioral levels using methods like statistical modeling and psychological assessment. She has contributed to projects such as NSF-funded cyber security camps, the Engineering Technology Scholars-IMPRESS program, a DARPA Explainable AI initiative, and Ford Motor Company studies on rider comfort using cognitive and physiological measures. Dr. Tan is skilled in data analysis tools including R, SPSS, Excel, and SurveyMonkey.

Her expertise spans project evaluation, educational research, and quantitative analysis, with a particular interest in bridging cognitive science and human factors in technical and organizational contexts.
