About
Yin Ker is an Assistant Professor at both the School of Humanities and the School of Art, Design and Media at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Her academic training in art history was conducted at Sorbonne University. She specializes in the study of Myanmar’s pioneer modern painter, Bagyi Aung Soe (1923–1990), and explores broader themes such as the socio-political constructs of 'art' and 'art history', the interplay between art and authority, and the convergence of ancient and modern methodologies in knowledge and image production.
Her research critically examines how artistic practices intersect with matrices of power and how traditional and contemporary approaches to knowledge coexist. Yin Ker’s work contributes to redefining narratives around Southeast Asian art history, particularly within the缅甸 context.
