Yianna Danidou

Yianna Danidou is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the European University of Cyprus (EUC), part of the School of Sciences. She also serves as a Research Associate at the Centre of Excellence in Risk and Decision Science (CeRiDeS) at EUC. Her academic roles include adjunct faculty positions at institutions such as the Open University of Cyprus and the American College in Nicosia. Danidou holds a PhD from the University of Edinburgh, an MSc from the University of Bristol, and a BSc from the University of Cyprus.

Her research focuses on the intersection of cybersecurity, legal frameworks, and trusted computing systems. Key themes include EU cybersecurity regulations, digital trust networks, and the legal implications of emerging technologies like IoT and AI. She has contributed to major projects such as the EU-funded IMPRESS platform for crisis management and the MEDEA initiative for Mediterranean cybersecurity capacity building.

Danidou is actively involved in advisory roles, including membership in the Cyprus Cyber Security Challenge Advisory Board, the National Cybersecurity Strategy committee for child internet safety, and the National Maritime Cybersecurity project’s academic committee. Her work bridges academic research with real-world applications, emphasizing policy development and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Her publications span topics from AI in education policy to EU cybersecurity directives, reflecting her dual focus on technical innovation and legal governance. She has led or contributed to projects funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020, FP7, and Erasmus+ programs, demonstrating a commitment to both academic excellence and practical societal impact.
