Yi Zeng is a Professor and Deputy Director at the Research Center for Brain-inspired Artificial Intelligence, and Director of the China-UK Research Centre for AI Ethics and Governance at the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He also serves as Director of the Research Center on AI Ethics and Governance at the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence, and holds a dual professorship at the School of Humanity and School of Artificial Intelligence, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Additionally, he is a board member of China's Next Generation Artificial Intelligence Governance Committee and an expert for UNESCO and WHO on AI ethics frameworks.
His research focuses on brain-inspired artificial intelligence architectures and the development of ethical governance systems for AI deployment. He pioneers interdisciplinary approaches bridging neuroscience-inspired computing with policy frameworks to address societal impacts of artificial intelligence, emphasizing responsible innovation in both technical and regulatory domains.
Professor Zeng leads multiple high-impact research centers including the Research Center for Brain-inspired Artificial Intelligence and the China-UK Research Centre for AI Ethics and Governance, coordinating international collaborations between academic institutions, government bodies, and global organizations to shape AI standards and implementation guidelines.
