About
Yi Huang is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Biological Sciences at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas), affiliated with the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Previously, he served as a Senior Research Associate at UT Southwestern Medical Center (2019–2022) and a Postdoctoral Trainee there (2017–2019). His research focuses on cancer biology, immunotherapy, and nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems. Huang holds a Ph.D. in Anatomy and Cell Biology from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University (2016) and a B.S. in Biotechnology from Liaoning Normal University, China (2010).
His research projects include studying leukemia stem cells' dependency on protein synthesis, minimal residual disease in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and the role of PD-L1 in lung cancer immune evasion. He has also investigated renal clearance mechanisms of nanoparticles and their applications in imaging and therapy. His work bridges molecular biology, nanotechnology, and clinical oncology, with an emphasis on translational medicine.
Huang’s recent publications highlight advancements in renal nanomedicine, including nanoparticle transport dynamics in kidney tissues and the design of luminescent metal nanoparticles for noninvasive imaging. His studies on hepatic glutathione depletion and tumor targeting efficiency of gold nanoparticles demonstrate interdisciplinary approaches to biomedical challenges.
Teaching responsibilities include leading Human Anatomy labs for medical and graduate students. His educational background includes coursework in medical physiology, pharmacology, and histology, alongside clinical training in genetic screening and CRISPR-based research.
