Yetta Howard serves as Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at San Diego State University, where they lead both academic instruction and graduate program administration.

As Director of Graduate Studies, Howard oversees the department's graduate program and advises students. Their artistic practice as a photographer—exhibited at venues including Oceanside Museum of Art, Gallery 21 in Balboa Park, and Arc Gallery—complements academic work through explorations of visual culture and bodily phenomena.
