He serves as Director of the Gaerttner Linear Accelerator (LINAC) Center and the Nuclear Engineering Program. His expertise spans experimental nuclear physics, neutron cross-section measurements, and pyroelectric crystal acceleration.
He earned both his MS and PhD in Nuclear Engineering and Science from RPI. His research group focuses on
- Nuclear data applications using the 60 MeV RPI LINAC
- Development of novel neutron detectors
- Pyroelectric crystal-based accelerators for x-ray/neutron sources
Dr. Danon leads the Nuclear Data Advisory Group (NDAG) and chairs the US Cross Section Evaluation Working Group's Measurements Committee. His work contributes to global nuclear safety and reactor design through high-precision neutron interaction data.
He has advised 25 PhD, 10 MS, and 6 M.Eng students, currently mentoring 6 PhD candidates. Teaching responsibilities include Physics of Nuclear Reactors and Radiation Technology courses.
