Yanwen Wang is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Marketing and Behavioral Science Division at the UBC Sauder School of Business, and holds the Canada Research Chair in Marketing Analytics. She specializes in empirical modeling with a focus on public policy implications of marketing practices and digital technology applications in business.
Dr. Wang holds a BA from Fudan University, an MPhil from UNSW Sydney, and a PhD from Emory University. Her research spans two core areas: 1) regulatory impacts of marketing in domains like consumer finance, retirement plans, anti-smoking campaigns, political advertising, and ride-sharing; and 2) leveraging digital tools (machine learning, mobile platforms) to enhance business performance across industries including education, hospitality, and sports.
Methodologically, she employs advanced quantitative techniques such as choice models, Bayesian statistics, and field experiments. Her work has been published in top journals including Marketing Science and the Journal of Marketing.
