Dr. Yann-Fuu Kou is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. A native Texan, he earned his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from UT Austin and his M.D. from UT Southwestern. After residency and fellowship training at UT Southwestern and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2021. His clinical and research focus centers on pediatric aerodigestive disorders, velopharyngeal insufficiency, and complex airway reconstructions, particularly via multidisciplinary programs like CHAMP and MPAC.
Dr. Kou’s research emphasizes pediatric airway reconstruction techniques, outcomes of tracheostomy in neonates, and surgical management of congenital anomalies. He actively contributes to Laryngoscope, Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg, and other journals, publishing on topics ranging from laryngeal cleft repair to HPV-driven papillomatosis. His work highlights disparities in postoperative outcomes for pediatric patients and explores improved diagnostic and surgical strategies for pediatric airway and swallowing disorders.
