About
Yanick Crow is a Physician Scientist at the Institute of Genetics and Cancer, University of Edinburgh. His research focuses on genetic disorders affecting human neurological and immune function, particularly Aicardi-Goutières syndrome (AGS) and type I interferonopathies, as well as leukoencephalopathy with calcifications and cysts (LCC) and Coats plus (CP). He leads a multidisciplinary team integrating clinical, genetic, and immunological approaches.
Research Interests: Dr. Crow’s group explores the molecular mechanisms underlying
- Type I interferon upregulation in autoinflammatory/autoimmune diseases
- Genetic basis of rare brain calcification disorders
- Therapeutic development for interferonopathies (e.g., JAK inhibitors)
- Development of zebrafish models for LCC
- Shared disease mechanisms in genetically distinct neuro-radiological syndromes
- Immunological implications for systemic lupus erythematosus
Collaborations: His team collaborates with institutions including University of Manchester, Institut Pasteur (Paris), and University of Oxford.
Grants and Funding: Research is supported by the Medical Research Council (MRC), European Research Council (ERC), and LifeArc.
Labs and Teams: The group includes
- Post-doctoral researchers: Carolina Uggenti, Marie-Therese El-Daher, Andrew Badrock
