Yang Liu is a Senior Lecturer in Healthcare Engineering and holds a Fellowship of The Higher Education Academy (HEA). Her research focuses on biomaterials, tissue engineering, and biomechanical modeling with applications in cardiovascular devices and regenerative medicine. She has a background in dentistry and pharmacy, having previously worked as a pharmacist in China before pursuing academic research.
Qualifications include a PhD in Dentistry from the University of Birmingham, an MPhil in Drug Delivery and Biochemistry from Aston University, and a Bachelor of Pharmacy from China. Her career includes postdoctoral research at her current institution (2004–2008), followed by a Research Council UK fellowship (2008–2012).
Research interests span bioresorbable stents, magnesium alloys for orthopedic implants, and computational modeling of medical devices. She is affiliated with the Centre of Biological Engineering and has contributed to advancements in materials science and clinical applications of engineered tissues.
