Dr. Yan Yang is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Ecohydrology and Biogeochemistry at the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB Berlin), Germany, and a member of the Landscape Ecohydrology research group.
Her educational background includes:
- Bachelor of Geographic Science, East China Normal University (2013-2017)
- Master of Physical Geography, East China Normal University (2017-2020)
- PhD in Isotopic Meteorology and Hydrology, University of Tokyo (2021-2024)
Her research focuses on ecohydrology and biogeochemistry, with expertise in isotopic-enabled atmospheric modeling and land surface-atmosphere model coupling. She investigates how climate variability and land cover changes affect water partitioning across the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum (SPAC), particularly through isotopic tracers and integrated modeling approaches.
Currently, she contributes to the ECCO project (November 2024 - October 2027), which examines ecohydrological responses to environmental changes under the leadership of Dörthe Tetzlaff, Christian Birkel, and Chris Soulsby.
