Yan GRASSELLI

Yan GRASSELLI is an Associate Professor in Physics and Material Science at SKEMA Business School, France. He currently serves as the Director of the Global BBA Programme and Head of the Engineering department. His research focuses on Soft Condensed Matter, particularly rheological and nano-rheological behaviors of fluids, granular materials, and smart fluids under external fields. GRASSELLI holds a Doctorate in Soft Condensed Matter from Université Côte d'Azur (1993). He has held full-time academic roles since 2000, including leadership in SKEMA's bachelor's programmes and departments.

His research explores discontinuous shear thickening in suspensions, magnetorheological effects, and granular dynamics in microgravity. Notable awards include the 2009 Pedagogical Innovation Award from SKEMA. GRASSELLI's work bridges fundamental physics and applied materials science, with contributions to rheology, colloidal systems, and smart fluid technologies.

Key technical achievements include controlling discontinuous shear thickening via magnetic fields and polymer coatings, and studying granular gas behavior in low-gravity environments. His studies on magnetic and bidisperse suspensions advance understanding of material transitions under stress and external fields.
