Dr. Xudong Chen is a Professor of Finance at Baldwin Wallace University, where he has taught since 2007. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Tulane University (2006), an M.A. (2000), and a B.A. (1997) in Economics from Xiamen University. Prior to joining BW, he taught at the University of Richmond.
His research focuses on:
- Development economics and environmental sustainability
- Game theory applications in economic systems
- China's economic policies and growth
- Innovative approaches to economics education
- Sports economics and market dynamics
Dr. Chen has received significant recognition for teaching excellence:
- Exemplary Teacher Award (BW/United Methodist Church)
- Ohio Magazine's Excellent Educator Award (2012)
- BW's Strosacker Award for Excellence in Teaching (2014)
- Bechberger Award for Human Development (2016)
He mentors undergraduate researchers, notably leading a 2013 research trip to China funded by the ASIANetwork Freeman Foundation. As a Faculty Innovation Fellow (2015-2016) at BW's Center for Innovation and Growth, he advanced interdisciplinary initiatives. He has consulted for the World Food Programme and World Vision.
