Dr. Xiusheng (Harrison) Yang is a Professor in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment at the University of Connecticut. He also serves as the Director of the Connecticut State Climate Center (CSCC) and has held the role of Connecticut State Climatologist since 1999. His research spans natural resources engineering, urban agriculture, and environmental modeling.

Dr. Yang’s research focuses on natural resources engineering, multimedia transport processes, and atmospheric-hydrologic-ecologic interactions. He pioneered GREENBOX technology, a controlled environment agriculture system for urban food production, and has contributed to bioenergy, watershed management, and soil science.
His recent publications highlight advancements in hydroponic systems, urban agriculture feasibility, and sediment transport modeling. These works emphasize sustainable solutions for food production, water quality, and ecosystem restoration.

Dr. Yang teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in meteorology, climatology, environmental data analysis, and research methods.
